ADVANCED DRAWING
Pre-requisite: Drawing & Design (Grades 10-12)
Course Description: This course is for students who have successfully completed the introductory level Drawing & Design class, and would like to continue to explore and build upon fundamentals in drawing. This is an intermediate to advanced level course that will focus on mastering technical drawing skills that address line quality, mark-making, illusions of depth and 3-D forms, and surface manipulation. Students will be encouraged to experiment and take risks that will result in the creation of engaging and compelling works of art. This is an ideal course for any students interested in building a Drawing or 2D Portfolio and/or who are looking for a class that will prepare them for a more successful experience in AP Studio Art as a college bound and/or career minded art student. Workload Expectations: This is a studio based course meaning that most work will be completed during class time and will be project based. This is not a homework intensive course. Homework might consist of sketching, finishing projects if extra time is needed and any class time is missed and/or bringing in objects to draw. |
ADVANCED PAINTING
Pre-requisite: Painting (Grades 10-12)
Course Description: This course is for students who have successfully completed the introductory level Painting class and would like to continue to explore and build upon fundamentals in various Painting mediums, such as watercolors and acrylics. This is an intermediate to advanced level course that will focus on mastering both traditional and contemporary skills and processes specific to each painting medium. Students will be encouraged to experiment and take risks that will result in the creation of engaging and compelling works of art that address a variety of 2D design issues. This is an ideal course for any students interested in building a 2D Portfolio and/or who are looking for a class that will prepare them for a more successful experience in AP Studio Art as a college bound and/or career minded art student. Workload Expectations: This is a studio based course meaning that most work will be completed during class time and will be project based. This is not a homework intensive course. Homework might consist of sketching, finishing projects if extra time is needed and any class time is missed, and/or bringing in visual references for inspiration. |
